Housing Information for the 10th Biennial Slayage Conference

Dear Buffy+ Scholars,

We are very excited to be hosting the twentieth anniversary Slayage conference at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, July 18-21!  To help with your planning, we would like to share some information about the housing options that will be available for the conference.

ON-CAMPUS HOUSING. Rooms will be available at Cal Poly SLO's Poly Canyon Village Apartments.  Each apartment has four single rooms and two bathrooms.  The cost is $127.50 per person per night.  Please note that this is a per person rate. The deadline to apply for dorm room housing is May 25th.  A virtual tour of the apartments is available here:  https://www.housing.calpoly.edu/student-housing/residence-halls-and-apartments/poly-canyon-village-apartments

HOTELS. We are recommending two hotels, the Apple Farm and the Sands.  Both are located on Monterey Avenue near the corner of Grand Avenue, about one mile from campus.  Able-bodied folx will be able to walk to campus from the hotels, and there is a city bus that goes up Grand Avenue onto campus.  Prices quoted below are for rooms with one queen bed, for a three night stay.  July is tourist season in San Luis Obispo, so if you are planning to stay in a hotel, we suggest that you make your reservation early.

APPLE FARM.  https://www.applefarm.com/  This is a quaint and charming hotel with a good restaurant. The prices below includes a resort fee, which covers the following amenities: fresh welcome cookies at check-in (1 per person), a voucher for a glass of wine each day (1 per person), fresh coffee/tea/apple cider in the lobby, 2 bottles of water, resort parking, and WiFi access. If you book before March 14, 2024 with the 30-day nonrefundable advance purchase rate, the rate is $231.75 per night plus fees, for a total of $876.17.  The regular AAA or Senior rate is $278.10 per night plus fees, for a total of $1034.34.

THE SANDS INN AND SUITES.  https://sandssuites.com/  This hotel is more basic, but it is comfortable and clean.  It is recently renovated; renovations are meant to be completed by March. It has a pool and a workout center, and free parking. A continental breakfast is included. The standard rate is $203.10 per night plus fees, for a total of $692.75.
